1970年代のSPHINXのスネイクモチーフのブローチ。蛇は古代より「幸運」や「再生」のシンボルとして愛されてきたモチーフです。

とぐろを巻く蛇が艶やかなゴールドトーンメタルで表現されており、眼はブラックストーン、額はクリアストーンで装飾されています。蛇の額の模様、鼻の穴や口、体の質感・・それぞれ細かいところまで作り込まれており、蛇の強い気品とミステリアスな魅力を感じられます。

蛇のシルエットもとても美しく、遠目からも印象的。SPHINXのクラフトマンシップを感じる、デザイン性の高い一品です。身に纏えば、ぐっと洗練されたコーディネートに仕上げてくれます。

【SPHINX(スフィンクス)とは】
1948年にイギリスで創業したジュエリーカンパニー。まるで本物のジュエリーに見える、高品質で美しいデザインのコスチュームジュエリーを制作していました。自社製品の他にもKenneth Jay Lane、Nina Ricciなどのデザイナーや、ヨーロッパやアメリカの高級デパート向けにジュエリーデザインを手掛けていました。
刻印には"SPHINX"とシリアルナンバー、またはどちらか一方が刻まれましたが、需要を満たすために刻印をせず、急いで出荷していた時期も。会社は1990年代後半に閉業しました。
