Seeing Red: Indigenous Land, American Expansion, and the Political Economy of Plunder in North AmericaAgainst long odds, the Anishinaabeg resisted removal, retaining thousands of acres of their homeland in what is now Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. Against long odds, the Anishinaabeg resisted removal, retaining thousands of acres of their homeland in what is now Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. Their success rested partly on their roles as sellers of natural resources and buyers of trade goods, which made them key players in the political economy of plunder that drove white settlement and U.S. development in the Old Northwest. But, as Michael Witgen demonstrates, the credit for Native persistence rested with the Anishinaabeg themselves. Outnumbering white settlers well into the nineteenth century, they leveraged their political savvy to advance a dual citizenship that enabled mixed-race tribal members to lay claim to a place in U.S. civil society. Telling the stories of mixed-race traders and missionaries, tribal leaders and territorial governors, Witgen challenges our assumptions about the inevitability of U.S. expansion.

Deeply researched and passionately written, Seeing Red will command attention from readers who are invested in the enduring issues of equality, equity, and national belonging at its core.

Must buy
Flavor Name: Bacon, Size: Small
I've bought multiple of these for various different dogs. They've all loved them. Great for gifts or just because you want to buy. I highly recommend. Seems safe to eat. Lasts a while. It's hard then as dogs chew it, it breaks down. The shape make it easy for the dogs to use their paws to hold it.

He loves them
Flavor Name: Bacon, Size: Medium
My little one goes to town on these.. I have bought several.. I get scare when he chews all of the end down and then looks like little pieces of the fiber are coming off. so I throw away and buy a new one.. at least they are cheap enough to do that for cost. He loves them and nothing else gets chewed.

I will buy this again if it ever wears out! 🦴
Flavor Name: Bacon, Size: Medium
My dog loves it, he’s a Boston Terrier. Perfect size for a Boston. It is well made, doesn’t fall apart and there is no stink! Safe to let dog use by himself and good value for the money.
