Yellow Chartreuse is a legendary herbal liqueur made by Carthusian monks in the French Alps since the 18th century. This vibrant yellow liqueur is made with 130 different plants and flowers, with the exact recipe known only to two monks at any time. It boasts a complex and well-balanced flavor profile that is both herbal and sweet, making it a favorite among bartenders and cocktail enthusiasts alike.

Tasting Notes

On the nose, Chartreuse Yellow is incredibly aromatic with herbal and floral notes, followed by hints of honey and lemon. The palate is full-bodied with a complex and layered flavor profile that includes notes of anise, juniper, mint, and cinnamon. The finish is long and lingering with a subtle sweetness and a pleasant bitterness.

Suggested Cocktail

The Yellow Bird cocktail is a refreshing and delicious drink that highlights the complex flavors of Chartreuse Yellow. To make, combine 1 1/2 oz Chartreuse Yellow, 1 oz orange juice, and 1 oz pineapple juice in a shaker with ice. Shake well and strain into a chilled glass filled with ice. Production Details

Yellow Chartreuse is made using a closely guarded recipe known only to two monks of the Carthusian order. The process takes several years and involves macerating and distilling a blend of 130 different plants and flowers, which are then aged in oak barrels. The final product is bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV) and has a distinct yellow color derived from the saffron used in the recipe.
