Checkers was beginning to settle into foster care after being rescued off the street, when his health took a frightening turn. After his foster family found him on his side gasping for air, they rushed to get him help.
At the veterinary hospital, Checkers was diagnosed with severe asthma. Treatment has helped stabilize his breathing, but he will need ongoing, lifelong care to keep his condition under control. Without it, his breathing troubles could return at any time.
Though stable for now, Checkers will still face challenges as he adjusts to life with asthma. With steady care, he can live comfortably and find a family who can provide the support he needs.
