Douglas DC-9 JT8D Engine Cowling Chair

McDonnell Douglas produced more than 976 DC-9 twin-engine jetliners between 1965 and 1982, including 47 C-9 aircraft for military customers. The versatile jets served operators for decades; the last DC-9 in regular passenger service finally retired in 2014. This artifact is a genuine DC-9 Pratt & Whitney JT8D engine cowling that has been converted into a sleek chair. The cowling was removed from the aircraft, stripped of paint, and polished in multiple steps to achieve a mirror finish. The seat is upholstered in high-quality black leather with stitching that echoes the shape of the rotor blades that once spun inside the engine. The seat and back cushions are removable. Certificate of Authenticity is included. Measures 30"H x 57" in diameter at widest point. Weighs 138 lb.
