Uncorrected proof copy of the first novel in the Judge Dee series.

While carrying out his duties as district magistrate, Judge Dee unravels three baffling mysteries in the underworld of Poo-Yang. The character of Judge Dee is based on the historical Tang-dynasty magistrate Di Renjie (seventh century). Van Gulik first encountered Di Renjie while translating the eighteenth-century Chinese detective novel Dee Goong An in 1949, an experience that inspired him to create his own series of Judge Dee stories.

A Dutch diplomat and accomplished scholar of sinology, Van Gulik drew extensively on his academic research in shaping his fiction and illustrated his own novels, adopting a distinctive woodblock-inspired style. Although The Chinese Bell Murders was written in 1949 and originally conceived for a Japanese and Chinese readership, it was first published in Tokyo only in 1955, and did not appear in English until Michael Joseph issued the present edition in 1958.

Evers, p. 50.

Squeaks break immediately
Color: 12 Tennis Ball
Squeaks break almost immediately, even with very light chewing. Some are so badly made that the squeaks break after one or two squeezes. Get Kong balls instead.

Nice balls but arrived with a bad chemical smell
Color: 12 Tennis Ball
Wonderful Product!!! The balls themselves are amazing and the squeaker in them my dog loves. I am giving them only a three star because they arrived and they SMELL like chemicals so bad!!! I was afraid to give it to my dog so i washed one out and put it up hoping the chemical smell will go away. This not good for a dog as unknown chemicals can make them really sick. Whatever amazon is spraying on their stuff it's not good

Puppy tested & approved
Color: 12 Tennis Ball
I ordered these squeaky tennis balls for my cocker spaniel. She absolutely loves these tennis balls with the squeakers in them! She plays with them all day, and chews on them frequently. We have not had any problems with her, breaking the tennis balls, which is generally the issue we have with her. The tennis ball fuzz stays on the ball very well, which is usually an issue with standard tennis balls, because my dog likes to peel off the yellow fuzz on all tennis balls. She has not been able to do that with these. I will definitely be buying these again , but will not need to anytime soon as these are extremely well built.
