HARRISON, Ernest John. Peace or War East of Baikal? Yokohama: Kelly and Walsh. [1910].

8vo. Original blue-green cloth, gilt; pp. xx, 563, [4], photographic illustrations, 3 folding maps, upper cover and spine a little marked, internally, apart from minor spotting, a good copy.

First edition, presentation copy to "Mrs. J. H. More. An inadequate pledge of love and admiration from her nephew, the author, E. J. Harrison. Yokohama, July 6th, 1910". Harrison, a journalist with the Japan Herald in Yokohama, wrote the present work as "an attempt to elucidate the more recent phases of the Far Eastern problem as they affect, more particularly, Japan, Russia, and China" (Preface). His chapters consider the matters in regard to Manchuria, the Japanese protectorate in Korea, and Russian interests on the Amur river and at Vladivostok. Harrison was the first foreign-born person to achieve black belt status in judo, and many of his later publications introduced Japanese martial arts to an English-speaking audience. This is his first book, the last being Judo for Young Girls, issued the year Harrison died, 1961.

Cost associated either app.
Color: Pink
Not easy instructions and didn’t know there would be a membership cost for app.

Average quality, not as premium as expected
Color: Beige
Before buying, I thought it would be a thick, glossy satin ribbon. After receiving it, I found the material is rather thin and the texture feels quite ordinary. When used for gift wrapping, it looks a bit cheap and doesn’t match the effect shown in the pictures.

Print quality is inconsistent
Color: Pink
Some labels come out okay, others look blurry or faded, especially with smaller fonts. For decorative ribbons, details matter, and this just isn’t reliable.

Edges fray easily after cutting
Color: Beige
After cutting the ribbon, the edges tend to fray quite easily. This makes it less attractive when tying bows or using it for decoration, and it requires extra handling, which is not very convenient.
