The Martin OM-28 Modern Deluxe Acoustic Guitar signifies a fusion of time-honored craftsmanship with modern innovations. At the heart of this instrument lies the VINTAGE TONE SYSTEM® (VTS) Spruce top. Leveraging thermal aging, a process where the wood undergoes controlled torrefaction, the VTS not only imbues the guitar with a seasoned tonal quality but also elevates its stability and resilience.
Topographically speaking, the OM and 000 body shapes from Martin can often be perceived as similar, but a closer inspection reveals the distinctions. Both share the 000 body's contour, but the OM's 25.4" scale length—contrary to the 000's shorter one—impacts both the tonal characteristics and the playability of the instrument. The longer scale length enhances string tension, offering a brighter tonality and more pronounced projection, a characteristic avid players might appreciate for fingerstyle or flat-picking nuances.
Constructed with a back and sides of East Indian Rosewood, known for its rich harmonic content and broad tonal range, it complements the VTS Spruce top in delivering an expansive soundscape. The Ebony fingerboard, graced with Diamonds and Squares Long Pattern inlays, is set to a 16" radius, ensuring optimal comfort and ease of play.
