Workshops are for adults or teens 15+ due to the fine motor skills required and use of ink. Ticket admission is the same price for adults and teens over 15. For safety reasons, children under 18 must be accompanied with a ticketed adult.

After class support | Leave the class with foundational calligraphy skills, and everything needed to keep practicing and to get you started on beautiful envelopes, gift tags, or journaling projects. After class, you’ll be invited to join our private Facebook group, where students can ask follow-up questions, share their projects, and get ongoing tips and support from our instructor and fellow calligraphy lovers in the area.

Instructor | Pearl Lui is a local New Jersey artist and modern calligrapher. She holds a Natural Science Illustration certificate from Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) and a Botanical Illustration Certificate from the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (RBGE). She is a member of International Association of Master Penmen, Engrossers and Teachers of Handwriting (IAMPETH), Society of Scribes NYC, The National Association of Women Artists (NAWA), and Guild of Natural Science Illustrators (GNSI). Specializing in  Botanical & Wildlife Painting and Modern Calligraphy, she blends expressive strokes, scientific observation, and a whimsical touch. Prior to her art career, she spent over 20 years in New York City, leading marketing strategy and mentoring marketing teams at publicly traded companies.

This book made me angry

I was excited about this book. Many law-related blogs and forums highly recommended this book. It's a "must read" for law students, they said. I was angry when I read the introduction. I was angrier when I began reading the chapters. What happened to brevity? Law students are already swamped with course readings. Why write a book intended to be read by law students in such a long and voluminous way? Much of the text can be removed. "Get to the point," I found myself telling the author as I read page after page. I hated it. It is the rare law student who will pick up this book for its narrative value. The typical law student will pick this book for its value on navigating through law school exams, not for its story-telling. Yet that student will be left disappointed. I wish the author would have considered writing a "Get to the Point" book, which would serve as a shorter version of 'Getting to Maybe.' Perhaps it is not too late. "Get to the Point" could serve as an alternative or accompanying version, maybe? I ask that the author considers this.
