Background
DCP (Des-gamma carboxyprothrombin) is also known as protein induced by vitamin K absence/antagonist-II (PIVKA-II). Prothrombin, a blood coagulation protein synthesized in liver, is converted to an active form after the 10 glutamic acid residues (Glu) in the γ-carboxyglutamic acid (Gla) domain at positions 6, 7, 14, 16, 19, 20, 25, 26, 29 and 32 are γ-carboxylated to Gla by vitamin-K dependent γ-glutamyl carboxylase. Incomplete carboxylation of one or more Glu residues at any of the sites mentioned above may result in DCP and loss of coagulation function. Abnormal prothrombin elevation is more common in patients with vitamin K deficiency, warfarin therapy and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), so DCP can be used as a marker for HCC diagnosis. The value of this target in combination with traditional tumor marker alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) in the early diagnosis of HCC has been widely recognized. High PIVKA-II/DCP values indicate a potential risk of cirrhosis or hepatocellular carcinoma and should be followed up.This product is the recombinant human PIVKA-II /DCP protein expressed from human 293 cells (HEK293).

Great idea, great cover, poor execution
Format: Paperback
This is a great idea that was badly done. On the production side, insufficient glue in the binding causes pages to fall out when you turn them - dozens of pages, not just one or two. This is surprising given the good quality of the paper and cover.
As for content, the writing is very poor & shallow. I'm reminded of a high school essay by poor student unfamiliar with history who is looking looking up the subject matter on Wikipedia as they go but leaving out all the good stuff. For example, we get a king list for Kush spread over several pages, but virtually no actual history -- despite the fact that all of Egypt was there to quote from for at least the enemy's side of the story, and Assyrian sources could have been cited as well. I don't gain much new information from the 50th repetition of "nobody knows this" and "nobody knows that." A real historian can impost structure on the unknowns by showing the archaeology or citing history & folklore & epigraphs. This could have been presented in simple high school language, outlining the alternative possibilities from the little we do know, and explaining how we know what little we know. Photographs of actual ruins and art would help. Unfortunately the subject matter is really not touched.
Too bad. This could have been a very good project.

Stylish and sturdy paper towel holder

This gold paper towel holder looks great on my counter and works perfectly. The base is nice and heavy keeping it sturdy, which keeps it from sliding or tipping when I pull off a paper towel. I’ve had no issues with the roll coming loose or falling off, even when grabbing sheets quickly. It’s both functional and elegant. Gives you good value for the money.
