Madrona Block Md77 1.8" x 1.8" x 7.2" 0.5 lbs. This is an attractive spindle of Pacific Madrone wood. It has light peach color with darker peach undertones. This is a fully air-dried blank, measuring 10-12% moisture content. Madrona tends to have a fair bit of internal stress stored up due to its twisting and turning growth habit. This gives the wood its gorgeous grain but also increases the risk of cracks occurring while drying. This piece has open cracks as shown in the close-up photos. We recommend stabilizing these with thin or medium CA glue prior to turning. This size of spindle is useful for a range of turning, carving, or other woodworking projects. About the Tree This Madrona tree lived a long and healthy life on San Juan Island, Washington. It died naturally and was harvested in the course of good forest management. |

Our Dog Loved These To Death

Our dog is The Toy Destroyer. These came up in a search for "heavy duty" and "durable" dog chew toys. They're nicely made, actually pretty, no stuffing to fly around the house. She loved them. Each one had to be shaken, "killed" and chewed. Only problem is they are lightweight - she got them ripped open quickly. Fortunately, she still enjoyed trotting them around and shaking them after she'd turned them into rags.
